Course Description
The safe transportation of dangerous goods is an unavoidable and complex reality that requires strict compliance with regulations and meticulous handling. In this comprehensive course, we demonstrate what dangerous goods actually are and how they are classified under international frameworks such as ADR, IMDG. From explosives to corrosives, we walk candidates through the nine hazard classes and their subdivisions to give you a deeper understanding. This ADR Dangerous Goods course covers legal requirements, hazard classification (Classes 1-9), packaging, documentation, and emergency procedures, with core modules for general knowledge and specific units for packages, tanks, and individual hazard classes, ensuring safe transport of hazardous materials by road. The training builds from general rules to detailed class-specific handling, including loading, unloading, vehicle requirements, and security measures, culminating in exams for certification.

Training Objective

Upon this essential course participants will adhere to: 

  • Hazard Awareness & Risk Mitigation: Make participants aware of risks from dangerous goods and provide information to minimize incidents, including fire prevention and security.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure understanding and adherence to the ADR Agreement for the international transport of dangerous goods by road, covering classification, packaging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Enable drivers and handlers to take appropriate safetymeasures during an incident, including basic first aid and emergency procedures. 
  • Safe Handling & Loading: Teach correct procedures for loading, unloading, securing loads (including mixed loads), and using equipment, with practical exercises.
  • Specific Knowledge: Provide tailored training for different classes of dangerous goods (e.g., flammable liquids, gases, explosives) and specific transport units (tanks, packages).
  • Role & Responsibility:Clarify individual roles and responsibilities within the loading, transport, and unloading chain.  
  • Achieve Zero-Accident target for hazardous goods transportation

Training Methods

This face-to-face training course uses proven adult learning techniques to ensure comprehensive understanding and retention. It includes presentations, videos, case studies, and interactive discussions. Delegates will engage in practical exercises supported by audiovisual materials, ensuring active participation and real-world application of the concepts learned. 

Daily Agenda

Day (1) : The foundation for all ADR qualifications, covering essential safety and legal requirements:  

  • Introduction to ADR, legal regulations, and driver duties.
  • Dangerous Goods Classes overview and UN numbers.
  • GHS,NFPA,DOT dangerous goods codes and practices
  • Documentation (Consignment notes, instructions in writing).
  • Vehicle marking, labelling, and placarding.
  • Emergency Procedures: First aid, basic firefighting, and immediate actions to take after an accident or spill.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Correct use and decontamination of safety gear and respiratory protection.
  • Security: Measures for high-consequence dangerous goods and reporting suspicious activities. 

Day (2)   :  Mode of Transport Modules  

  • The handling procedures of hazardous goods in packs and tankers
  • Cargossecurity and handling.in drums, sacks, or boxes 
  • Stability, filling, and discharge proceduresfor tankers.  
  • Packaging types and UN approved packaging requirements.

        Specific Hazard Classes 

  • Class 1: Explosive substances and articles (Specialist module).
  • Class 2: Gases (Compressed, liquefied, or dissolved under pressure).
  • Class 3: Flammable liquids.
  • Class 4: Flammable solids, self-reactive substances, and water-reactive substances.
  • Class 5: Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides.
  • Class 6: Toxic and infectious substances.
  • Class 7: Radioactive material (Specialist module).
  • Class 8: Corrosive substances.
  • Class 9: Miscellaneous dangerous substances and articles. 

Day 3: Emergency Procedures & Practical Training 

  • Classes 8-9 (Corrosives, Miscellaneous).
  • Emergency first aid, fire prevention, and fire extinguisher use.
  • Action in the event ofaccidents or spillages. 
  • Practical exercises and mock drills .

 Day 4: Tanker Specialization 

  • Tank construction, inspection, and approval.
  • Loading and unloading procedures for tanks.
  • Static electricity risks and control.
  • Vehicle behavior, stability, and rollover prevention.

    Day 5: Review & Exams: 

  • Final review of all modules (Core, Packages, Tanks, Classes).
  • Worldwide real case studies.
  • Interactive workshop (Q&A)
  • Final exam. 
Accreditation

CDGA attendance certificate will be issued to all attendees completing minimum of 75% of the total course duration.
