  • Forecasting production & reserves
  • Price dynamics (Brent, WTI, Henry Hub, JKM)
  • Introduction to financial modelling structure and logic

Workshop:

  • Build the basic structure of a financial model (inputs → calculations → outputs)

 

Day 2 – Cash Flow Modelling & Discount Rates

Topics:

  • CAPEX & OPEX modelling
  • Revenue modelling for crude, LNG, NGLs, and refined products
  • Fiscal regimes: royalties, taxes, PSAs, concessions
  • Selecting discount rates (WACC, risk adjustments, inflation, country risk)
  • Real vs. nominal cash flows

Workshop:

  • Build a cash flow model (FCFF & FCFE) with price and cost assumptions

 

Day 3 – Investment Appraisal & Sensitivity Analysis

Topics:

  • NPV, IRR, Payback, Profitability Index
  • Breakeven price and cost analysis
  • Sensitivity analysis (tornado diagrams)
  • Scenario modelling (base, low, high cases)

Workshop:

  • Perform multi‑scenario evaluation for an oilfield development

Day 4 – Statistics for Financial Modelling & Forecasting

Topics:

  • Business statistics for decision‑making
  • Regression analysis and forecasting of oil & gas prices
  • Probability distributions and uncertainty modelling
  • Monte Carlo simulation concepts
  • KPI development for oil & gas operations

Workshop:

  • Build a statistical forecasting model for oil prices or production

 

Day 5 – Integrated Model Development & Final Presentation

Topics:

  • Integrating economics, cash flows, and valuation
  • Corporate presentation techniques for financial results
  • Model auditing and error‑checking
  • Best practices in financial modelling

Final Capstone Project:

 

Participants in teams will:

  • Build a full upstream project financial model
  • Conduct valuation and sensitivity tests
  • Prepare and deliver a corporate-style financial presentation

 

Accreditation
